SEPTOR® - handling and sorting board

Innovation which significantly facilitates work in a pig farm

 

SEPTOR® is a moveable board to handle and sort pigs at different ages. The idea of using a moveable board for this purpose was created in a pig herd and utilized in practice for many years. Currently the handling and sorting system using a moveable board as well as the name SEPTOR® are protected by patent rights. SEPTOR® boards can be used in piggeries and during transportation. Working with the SEPTOR® boards is free from stress and compatible with the requirements of animal well-being. SEPTOR® boards are made of a flexible, unbreakable and very resistant material. These properties ensure a long-lasting use. The boards have a thickness of 3mm only and therefore are very light. The boards are available in the following sizes (in cm): 67 x 200; 75 x 200; 85 x 200. The right choice of the board height depends on the age of the animals and the preferences of the stockperson. The handholds are located very conveniently and allow a comfortable grip and utilization of the board by any stockpeople. SEPTOR® boards can be used for handling and temporary separation of pigs in the corridors of the piggeries or in the following situations:

FARROWING HOUSE (suggested height of the board 67cm):

  • separation of young piglets in a farrowing pen for medical and animal hygiene treatment (application of iron or any other pharmaceutical, vaccination, castration, teeth-clipping, etc.)
  • moving the whole litter out of the pen during the weaning

NURSERY ROOM (suggested height of the board 67 or 75cm):

  • moving out the piglets from the pen
  • concentration of piglets in the pen for vaccination or other medical treatment
  • handling and sorting of animals, e.g. relating to sex or weight
  • separation of single animals

FINISHING HOUSE (suggested height of the board 75 or 85cm):

  • moving all fatteners out  from the group pens
  • handling and sorting fatteners during the pig marketing process
  • separation of single animals

BREEDING HERD (suggested height of the board 85cm):

  • moving single sow out of the pen
  • grouping and sorting groups of sows by size or feed requirements
  • moving sows from gestation to farrowing room
  • boar’s moving

 

With the help of SEPTOR® boards work in piggeries goes easier, especially in single person service facilities.
